Still Around analysis

go ahead and burn it down
I'm drunk and so is everyone else
in this devil town
they wont let me turn around
to get one last look at my baby,
well shes still around
well shes still around
well shes still around
well shes still around
go ahead and build it up again
this cities just cemeteries and forgotten,
in my only hopes to see you
and even if i never do
well shes still around
well shes still around
well shes still around

well shes still around
and i know what your thinking
but that wont stop this drinking
its the least i can do
cuz this life is anything but certain
when they close the final curtain
you'll get a glimpse of the truth
cuz your...
still around
well shes still around
well shes still around
well shes still around
go ahead and burn it down
I'm drunk and so is everyone in this devil town

Normally, 3oh!3 takes a punk techno approach to it's music. "Electroshock", "Don't Trust Me", and "Chokechain" show their harder side. Most of their lyrics are about woman, drugs, and elaborate metaphors for life and love. In "Still Around", the softer music is accompanied by Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte's vocals. This tragic love story of two young lovers is chronicled by a hopeless romantic stating that no matter where he goes, she's still around. His only hope, his only desire is to see her again, and even if he doesn't, she will still be with him.

Reverse Speech and Backmasking

A man named David John Oates once proposed that in casual conversation, a person produces two related sentences or words, rather than just one subconsciously. Backmasking was made popular by The Beatles. John, Paul, Ringo and George used backward vocals and instruments on their 1996 album, Revolver. Artists have since used backmasking for artistic, comedic, and satanic effect. The technique has also been used to censor words or phrases for "clean" releases of songs.
In the Summer of 1990, Judas Preist was placed on trial. The civil action alleged that they were responsible in the suicide(attempt) of James Vance and Ray Belknap, two young men in Reno, Nevada. On December 23, 1985, Vance and Belknap were intoxicated and went to a playground at a nearby church. Ray took a shotgun and shot himself in the chin and died instantly, and although James did the same, he survived. The men's parents alleged that the words "do it" has been included in the song "Better By You, Better Than Me." They alleged that was a command to pull the trigger. The trial was dismissed, and they stated that "do it" had no direct connotation.
Iron Maiden is a British heavy metal band that is touring and has been making music for over 33 years. The band came into controversy when at the beginning of Still Life, a track off their ourth studio album contained the words "The Man of Evil is Here.", most likely reffering to the devil. They stated that This was a joke and an intended swing back at the critics who had accused Maiden of being satanic.

Metallica's "One" and Dalton Trumbo's "Johnny Got His Gun" show the parallels between life and death, salvation and loss of hope.
The story is about a young man, Joe Bonham, a troubled soul stricken with an injury from a landmine. The landmine took his legs, arms, and face, until he was left but one solid lump, a being that cannot face life, a life that would only be lived inside his head.
All he wants to do is go home, but he can't. Not knowing whether he is asleep or awake, alive or dead, and he is slowly going insane.
Unable to move around on his bed, he is stricken with bed soars, eating away at his side.
The thought of death frightened most people, but in Joe's situation, he welcomes it. The downfall of hope and salvation happens inside of a lot of people, whether it takes a traumatic event or not.
When there is a person that has no solid proof that there is a God to pray to does just that, the thoughts of death are consuming them in a way that there is no going back.
"Oh God, please wake me."
The thought that being in a dream is the only way that he will survive is a trgaedy. Joe feels hopepless and
"darkness imprisoning me."
He makes it feel like darkness is a force that you cannot escape. A living being that can take you over in a moment's notice.

Kandyland--Brokencyde

My butterfly, I'm happy when you're with me.
You're everything I need, and everything I see.
These broken wings, will guide our love through the sky.
And take us away from these nightmares...
And these broken wings, they make you taste so sweet. Candy canes and kisses when I fall asleep.
Rainbows and wishes, you take me away.
To another place, so far away.
So far away.
SO FAR AWAY!!!
My butterfly, I'm happy when you're with me.
You're everything I need, and everything I see.
These broken wings, will guide our love through the sky.
And take us away from these nightmares...
I'm in candyland.
I'm in candyland.
I'm in candyland.
SO DON'T SAVE ME!!!(x4).
My butterfly, I'm happy when you're with me.
You're everything I need, and everything I see.
These broken wings, will guide our love through the sky.
And take us away from these nightmares(x2)...

Brokencyde has always been at the fore-front of lesser-known scream-o bands. Breath Carolina, Kill Paradise, and Medic Droid could also be placed into this category. The song "Kandyland" is a metaphor based on love and loss in life. While most songs by Brokencyde are about drinking, lust, and drugs, Kandyland has a lighter melodic feel. Se7en, Mikl, Phat J, and Antz composed the tune using a synthesizer and there signature "crunk screams" and back up rap courtesy of Mikl and Se7en.

My butterfly, I'm happy when you're with me.
You're everything I need, and everything I see.
These broken wings, will guide our love through the sky.
And take us away from these nightmares...

Se7en compares his love to a butterfly, unique, beautiful, mysterious. The broken wings may symbolize the lies. The nightmares are truly reality.
